Frequently Asked Avmap EKP IV Questions Q. What type of batteries should I buy for my EKP-IV? A. Only use rechargeable batteries (unit requires six AA NiMH). Alkaline batteries may damage the unit and will void the warranty.
Q. I am trying to hardwire my EKP-IV to ship's power. What are the wiring schematics? A. Red is positive. Black is ground. White is called a differential wire and is not used when hardwiring the unit.
Q. How do I get the latest software and Jep data for my AvMap? A. The latest software can be downloaded from AvMap's website. Remind a customer to read all the information before installing software on their card. A typical Americas update is $78.00 which includes Jep data and the obstruction database. A compact flash card reader will be needed in order to perform the updates.
Popular Accessories for the AvMap EKP IV Following are some common add-ons:
Straight Power Cable (ST IV Cord) is used for pilots who mount the EKP IV in their dash. The cable is open on one end so that it can be wired directly into an aircraft circuit breaker, eliminating the need for use of the cigarette jack.
Serial Cable enables the EKP IV or the GeoPilot Plus to interface with other on board flight systems such as an autopilot or EFIS. It can also be used to plug directly into a PC for use with the Jeppesen FliteStar program, enabling the user to create or transfer flight plans or user waypoints as well as storing flight tracks.
EKP IV Back Plate (IV Plate) is an economical and easy solution for mounting the EKP IV in aircrafts.
